The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
